Methodology and limitations

Method: Broadcast totals aggregate facility records from the FCC Licensing and Management System public database across full-power AM, full-power FM, low-power FM, full-service television, digital Class A television, and low-power digital television. Library totals count active system records in the IMLS FY2024 Public Libraries Survey.
  • FCC facilities are not the same as unique station owners, newsrooms, audiences, or editorial contacts.
  • IMLS system records are not counts of individual branches.
  • The combined figure is simple addition, not a claim that every outlet accepts public-service material.
  • No listing implies a partnership, endorsement, response, placement, or backlink.
  • Users should verify current status and each outlet's submission policy before outreach.
Use this as a map, not a mailing list. It is designed for planning relevant, individually reviewed outreach. It should not be used for automated bulk messages, fabricated local pitches, or repeated unsolicited follow-ups.
