Oregon title transfer

Oregon titles are processed through the Oregon DMV. To donate, sign the title in the "transfer of title by seller" section and hand it to our towing partner at pickup. Each state has specific paperwork requirements which our intake specialist walks through when you call.

If you've lost your Oregon title, you don't need to call the DMV — sign a one-page Power of Attorney and we pull the duplicate Oregon title for you, or we pick the vehicle up as-is and bonded-title it ourselves. Either path, you sign one form and we handle the state filing.

Tax deduction for Oregon donors

Oregon state income tax 4.75-9.9%. Your federal tax deduction equals the actual sale price of the vehicle at auction. Cars Helping Kids is a Georgia 501(c)(3) charity (program of Fainting Goat Foundation); donations from any US state qualify for the federal charitable deduction if you itemize.

If you itemize federally and Oregon has an income tax, the deduction typically flows to your state return as well. Consult a tax preparer for state-specific details.

What vehicles we accept in Oregon

Cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, RVs, boats, jet skis, ATVs, trailers, and select commercial equipment — running or not, with or without clean title (varies by state). Even damaged vehicles (flood, fire, accident) are accepted; they sell at salvage auction.

Frequently asked questions

Can I donate a car in Oregon?
Yes. Cars Helping Kids accepts vehicle donations from all Oregon addresses. Free pickup statewide; typical pickup window 3-7 business days depending on county. Call 770-871-9422 to confirm.
What are the title requirements for vehicle donation in Oregon?
If you have the Oregon title, great — just sign it over at pickup. Lost it? You don't need to deal with the DMV. Sign a one-page Power of Attorney and we pull the duplicate title for you, or we pick up the vehicle as-is and apply for a bonded title ourselves. Older vehicles in certain states can use a bill-of-sale path instead. Either way, your only step is signing one form.
Is car donation in Oregon tax deductible?
Yes. Donations to Cars Helping Kids (Georgia 501(c)(3), EIN 99-0472123) are federally tax-deductible if you itemize. State income-tax treatment varies; if Oregon has a state income tax, the donation typically flows through.
How does the IRS Form 1098-C work for Oregon donors?
After we sell your vehicle at auction, IRS Form 1098-C is mailed to the address you provided in Oregon. The gross sale proceeds shown in box 4c become your federal tax deduction (or up to $500 under the safe-harbor rule for low-value sales).
